How long does a drink driving conviction show up on a basic CRB check?
My brother acted like an utter tool one night about 12 years ago, he's looking for a career change and we are wondering if this will show up on a basic CRB check.
Obviously if he does gets to the interview stage of any job application process he'll struggle anyway what with him being a daft selfish potential murdering killer twat and all that.

He'll be fine. Drink driving offences don't show up - which is a little odd if you're applying to be a school coach driver.

If it's an enhanced DBS check, and most of them are, everything shows, including police cautions

yeah but he said it was basic.
I cant believe that drink driving offences dont show up. What if youve been put away for it?

The rehabilitation of offenders act states that offences are 'spent' after 7 years, so that's your marker in terms of time.
convictions where you go to chokey and/or or murder, manslaughter and sexual offences are never spent.
someone told me once....

recently done some training with work (for which we have to have enhanced dbs check) anyway trainer told us how the police lost a court case over a check coming unclear because an old conviction was coming up that had been spent.
Ring 101 as you.(or rather your brother) can talk.to the dbs and clarify that it wont affect his check going through.

Darlo- 101 is police non emergency number - can they tell you about DBS checks (aka CRB checks)?

It also depends on what sort of job you're going for. I believe that for jobs working with vulnerable children/adults that those checks show everything, even "spent" convictions, though I could be wrong.

I have a caution for assault and that stopped me getting a job as a porter in a private hospital and a train cleaning job. I have been working now for almost 4 year with a cleaning company with vulnerable people and the place is closing now. And as most of their sites are schools so they cannot keep me on. I have had 2 days off with a clean record.

It is called a DRB check now, hasn't been called a CRB check for years, 2012 i believe

Sorry Fifth, yes its one of the options when you ring through to them. You can call to track the progress of your DBS if its taking a long time, or have other queries pertaining to the check.

A DR10 conviction will show on a CRB check for 11 years if you only received a fine and not a suspended or custodial sentence.

Drink driving, manslaughter, rape, do your time and walk back in to a choice of clubs.

It depends what he is applying for. If it is a standard check I beleive his conviction will be spent and will not show up. If however he wants to work with children and/or vunerable adults it is an enhanced check and that will definitely show. The only things that do not show on them are smaller matters like parking fines and speeding fines.
It may not be a problem, to be honest it depends on the panel. I know someone with a caution from years ago who changed career and is now a teacher. I also know a prision officer who has a caution to his name.

Cautions last 6 years even on an enhanced check.
